Who makes iPhone?

Over 85 million iPhones are to be sold this year. Production of Apple products is increasing every year. Many manufacturers are involved in making an iPhone. There are over 30 companies on 3 continents making iPhone possible.
Foxconn is a long time partner to Apple. Some of the manufacturers of component are Simplo Technologies, Dynapack International Technology , which are batteries makers. TPK Holding and Wintek make touch panel modules and Catcher makes chassis. Largan Precision makes webcams for Apple, but could also become a principal supplier of 8MP camera lens modules. OmniVision and Sony are supplying Apple with 8MP CMOS image sensors. US-based Intel makes the processors. Korea’s Samsung makes the video processor IC. Baseband IC are made by Infineon Technology. Sharp and Sanyo Epson make 3.5 inch displays. Touch sensitive modules to make the glass screen a touch screen are supplied by Chinese Balda AG. Balda AG also provides Apple with scratch resistant glass.

UK’s Cambridge Silicon Radio supplies Apple with iPhone’s Bluetooth module. Marvell designs the WiFi chips and Broadcom is famous for their networking chips. Broadcom also makes interface chips that interprets the movement of your fingers on the multitouch screen. Most chips are designed in Europe, but for obvious reasons made in Asia. TSMC and UMC are both Taiwanese chip makers. Chips are planted onto printed circuit boards supplied by Taiwan’s Unimicron Technology Corp. Quanta is another supplier rumored to be involved with Apple, but we’re not sure how. SkyWorks as the designer of the mobile radio amplifier. Samsung as the manufacturer of the main NAND flash chips. Video processor chip are made by Samsung. Display Driver chips are made by National Semi, and Novatek. Battery Charger is made in Taiwan by Delta Electronics. Timing Crystal is done by TXC. Among other manufacturers are Cheng Uei, and Entery making connector and cables and Cyntec making Passive components.

All components are shipped to one place to be assembled. The company that was responsible for doing this was thought to be Foxconn, but recently, according to Reuters, Foxconn’s CEO claimed that these reports were incorrect.
